Bassetlaw is an incredible mix of the bustling, historic towns of Retford and Worksop and picturesque villages which offer a more tranquil pace of life. Our area offers something for everyone, including a much lower cost of living than surrounding areas.
There is a wealth of heritage and history here and simply stunning scenery right on the doorstep including a National Trust Park - and, of course, the world famous Sherwood Forest nearby. Stroll along the Chesterfield canal, or get more energetic in one of our many Leisure Centres. Take the kids to see Nature Reserves or the famous Mr Straw's house, or instead give them a thrill at Sundown Adventureland or the Kids Zone. Then see their smiles fade as you choose which of our 58 schools to send them to! Our Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Bassetlaw Primary Care Trust are among the best performing in the country, both gaining the maximum three stars.
There's always something going on, from quirky village events like the Ranskill Scarecrow Festival to the Fabulous Arts in Bassetlaw Annual Festival. Then we have theatres, galleries, museums...you name it, it's all here.
